Miley is a cash cow for Disney and Disney is not going to let their #1 money maker go without a fight so, they blame other people for what Miley does herself. Miley could've said "no" to the bare backed "VF" photo but, she didn't. So, when a stir was caused about it she went on the defensive.

wow... this blows my mind. Why would BillyRay allow her to act that way. And what is the deal with this Mandy girl?!?! Isn't she like 21 being best friends with a 15 year old? I mean, I have younger friends too but none of my BEST friends are that young. I think she's just looking for fame and clearly if she would say something like that then it's true. She's a loser. AND I like Hannah Montana (the show) and I think Miley's a good actress but she is not much of a singer. I think they need to keep her in the spotlight as long as possible so she can make Disney some money before peoole realize that she is NOT a good singer. haha

And her pictures make me sad. I mean, 15 year old girls do stupid things but she KNOWS that if anyone sees them it's going to be made into a big deal. And it's happened before. after reading what all you guys have written, i definitely agree with some of you. but, i think the bottom line is that none of us know what it is like to be in Miley's position. fame is a really weird and stressful thing. and i think people forget that she is on fifteen.
as far as the vanity fair pictures go, i don't think they're a big deal. it's a back...whatever. i realize that it would, however, seem like a big deal to a mother who had a young daughter who was a fan. but if the media wouldn't have made such a freaking huge deal out of it, half of those younger girls wouldn't have ever been aware of those pictures. i mean, how many of them read vanity fair?...also, when this was a topic on the news the other day, i heard someone say that, because she is in a sheet, it 'insinuates certain inappropriate messages'. i think that's just retarded. if an 11 year old saw that picture, the first thing to come to their mind wouldn't be that it looked like miley had just had sex. once again, that's something that the majority of miley's young fanbase wouldn't have even been aware of were it not for the media plastering this all over television and the internet.
annie lebovitz is known for taking controversial pictures. miley was probably aware of that going into this shoot. but, at the same time, being offered the cover of vanity fair is a huge deal, especially at 15. and being given the chance to shoot with annie is also huge. if she would have passed on the cover, it's not likely she would have been offered it again. and i can imagine being in that shoot. if annie lebovitz brought up the photo concept to me and told me it was going to look classy and artistic, i would believe her. i can't imagine being 15 and telling one of the best photographers in hollywood that her vision for a picture sucks. if miley, felt uncomfortable, that's the point where one of her handlers should have stepped in. but i'm sure she just wanted to go along with things and trust annie.
as far as the personal pictures go, they were just a stupid mistake. there are definitely far worse pictures of girls her age on myspace. i know that's not really an excuse because miley should understand she's in the public eye...but she has to make mistakes. she's not gonna learn if she doesn't mess up every now and then. and it's not like she's going and smoking crack to mess up and learn a lesson...she's taking dumb pictures. i think part of the reason britney went off the deep end was because she wasn't making any mistakes when she was a teenager. she was constantly under extreme pressure to be this perfect teenager girl. so, when she finally got a second to stop and breathe, she just went a little crazy trying to make all the mistakes and learn all the lessons she that never got to as a teenager. and if tom, the guy in those pictures with miley, was the one who leaked them, then that really sucks and that is sad. i'm sure finding out that somebody who you thought you could trust was just using you is bad enough. but miley is being crucified for them on top of it all.
if somebody has a young daughter, i think it's fine for that little girl to be a big fan of miley. but, they shouldn't be learning all their life lessons from someone who is in a completely different point and position in life. if a parent is doing their job correctly, it should be perfectly fine for their child to be aware of all that's going on with miley, but know that she's making mistakes and they shouldn't necessarily do the same. parents should be parents. parents shouldn't rely on hollywood and the media and singers and actors to raise their children for them.
troopinfairy, i'm sorry to hear that you had a bad encounter with miley. one of my best friend's sister was on hannah montana a couple of times in the first season and has remained good friends with miley and mitchel musso. i just have to say miley has never been anything but kind and very genuine anytime i'm around her. she definitely has her sarcastic side, but i've never taken it as anything rude. i can agree that she can be whiny at times...she definitely depends on her mom alot. but if she is ever rude or out of line, it doesn't just slide by. her parents are parents and they discipline her and treat her just like they would if she wasn't hannah montana.

you're right, that the VF picture wasn't a big deal, bc it IS just her back, and she's wearing jeans under the sheet, and more than half of her fans wouldn't even have seen it or known about it if the media wouldn't have FREAKED out. i read an article about it at work the other day, and i guess they talked about the photo prior to the shoot, and her parents were all for it..but they weren't actually there for the shoot...something along those lines. i had to read it fast, didn't wanna get caught reading on the job! haha.

as far as who knows miley or doesnt, i guess it just depends on her mood and when you catch her and how she's acting. i don't know a single 15 yr old girl who isn't a complete brat at one time or another. i have a 15 yr old sister and i can't stand her half the time, she's constantly demanding things from my mom and treating everyone, especially me, like crap...but then she has her crazy ridiculous moments where she's really fun to be around. i just keep reminding myself she's only 15, she'll grow out of it.

as far as MANDY goes, girl needs to make some friends her own age.
i've been friends with younger people...um, like 17 or 18, but i never became BFF's with any of them, and it was always a mutual group of friends...
i am undecided really about it though...did mandy start out as just a dancer for miley, and THEN they became bffs? i couldnt imagine being 20 or 21 being best friends with a 15 year old.

mandy started off as a dancer for hannah. i think she started dancing with her ummmm maybe like a year and a half ago?...i don't remember. i can understand how they grew so close to each other on tour. but, when they were on tour, it wasn't just miley and mandy all the time. another one of the dancers, ashlee, hung out with them alot. she's in her early twenties too...but i guess to me it was less weird because mandy and ashlee are both older. i don't know...

Sorry I have too much of a headache to read everything that was said; but what I do have to say is that it is not just that her back is showing. Anyone who looks at that picture knows what is being implied. She is wrapped in a sheet looking at the camera like a suductress who has just finished having sex or is inviting sex. She is 15 and she should not be doing that. This goes all the way back to what Britney did in 1999, everyone said it was just art when 17yr old Britney did a sexy photoshoot. Now 9years later 15yr old Miley does a sexy photoshoot of her own. By 2017 the next sexy pop star will be 13.
