Ugh. I probably should leave this one alone. He got under my skin in a big way. The sad thing is, the kind of publicity he got from this stint, you can't buy. He'll come out a winner in the end, which stinks, in my opinion. He's getting really bad publicity from it actually. Aside from JB: - he called Ronald Regan a retarded cowboy - he said anyone who doesn't vote for Obama should basically be called a racist - he made offensive Bush jokes about his competency as President i don't think he's coming out a winner at all |

I didn't watch the VMA's.. but from reading your guys' reviews and from the reviews of my friends who did watch? The consensus is that Russell Brand sucked a$$ as host and MTV was stupid for picking him to host this year. Seriously, the whole purity ring media circus is SO old.. the man obviously didn't get the memo and probably had nothing better to talk about/poke fun at. Seriously, my friends who don't even like JB told me Russell was stupid ridiculous.

I don't think Brand was talking about Reagan when he made the "retarded cowboy" joke. I believe he was talking about George Bush.

urrrh... I don't think he was talking about Ronald Regan. And someone said this on Perez, it was a comment under the reaction from the Jonas Brothers. They basically said who is a guy from England telling us who to vote for. Whether you vote Republican, Democrat, Green, Independent, etc, we shouldn't be told who to vote for by someone from England. And I thought they had a good point. We are a democratic nation for a reason. I don't want to make this political, but the comment was very true. But, I honestly think that Russell Brand is getting the reaction out of us that he wanted out of the rest of the US. He wants us to be mad and angry and I think that is what he likes and what he wants. And, also, I think that MTV thought bringing an outside source would be a good thing. But, obviously it blew up in their faces. It wasn't their best decision, but hopefully they can bounce back from it. I just wish the best for Russell Brand and whatever he does over in England. Have a jolly good time bashing people over there, but here in America there are many of us that still have strong morals and respect those and the rights of others. Also, I wish MTV the best of luck and hope they make better decisions in the future! (sorry for the soap box... sometimes I just get going and can't shut up!  ) ♥ |

That's the point I am trying to make. If a famous brtish person takes the time to find out who you are and deems you worthy enough to be the butt of his jokes the entire night at a huge award show, most people would be flattered and take it in stride. As for him wanting to cause this reaction, he probably did. He is Eminem with a British accent and tight pants. Then again people ragged on Eminem as well and he went right on dissing on people.

Russell Brand was on Craig Ferguson tonight. He was actually really REALLY funny! He even said he was sorry about the VMAs and said he admired the Jonas Brothers. I don't think there is a video up of it yet, but when there is you guys should watch it.
